Mark Chenven, M.D. is board certified in general and child/adolescent psychiatry.  His multi-faceted practice includes numerous clinical, organizational and medical leadership activities: forensic evaluation, medical education, community psychiatry, program design, clinical practice, and organized medicine.

Dr. Chenven is medical director at Vista Hill, a 50 year not-for-profit. He also coordinates psychiatric services at the Village of Childhelp, the San Diego City Schools, and the Fred Finch Youth Center programs.  Dr. Chenven maintains a private practice specializing in family psychiatry.

He is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Diego and formerly was Clinical Director for the County of San Diego’s Mental Health Programs.  He maintains staff privileges at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital, the Rady Children’s Hospital, and the San Diego County Mental Health Emergency Screening Unit.  He serves or has served on mental health, chemical dependency, developmental disability, child abuse, and educational advisory boards at local, state, and national levels.  Dr. Chenven is experienced in consultation, program review, and staffing interventions for medical and other professional organizations.

Dr. Chenven is active in the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as co-chair of the Work Group on Systems of Care and as a member of the Assembly.  He is past president of the American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry, the San Diego Psychiatric Society, the San Diego Society for Adolescent Medicine, and the Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Academy in San Diego.

As a medical education consultant to ISS, Dr. Chenven collaborates with Ms. Becker and Dr. Sieber in implementing effective educational experiences for healthcare professionals and other leaders.   Together they maintain a focus on helping individuals and systems grow, develop resiliency and leadership in a variety of demanding healthcare environments.
